Penang Free School Book Exchange Buffet
13 August 2014

Three Penang Free School boys who has just graduated overseas piloted a book reading project called "The Book Exchange Buffet" With the help of donations from all over the world, Nik Rashid, Justin Lim and Kok Hin bought many interesting books for the school students to read during their free time. It is just a way to encourage the students to read more books by bringing the books closer to them without having to borrow it in the library. It will be placed in the canteen under the supervision of the school prefects. The school would like to thank this trio for coming up with such a wonderful and brilliant idea. Bravo and well done!

Penang Free School hopes that this innovative project will further spurs the students to read widely as it is the first step to be in part of a global citizen and in this borderless world.

Many book lovers swarm all over the little books nook and borrowing books while listening tentatively to Kok Hin, Nik Rashid and Justin Lim's objectives and points of views. Penang Free School hopes that this initiatives will further encourage more Old Frees to contribute back to "the Grand Old Lady."

Book Launching
The White Man's Crocodile Tales

The name came about during the trip to Langawi in the early fifties, where they failed to find the legendary white crocodile at Tasik Dayang Bunting. So they threw Hughes into the lake and called him the white crocodile!

On the 26th of May (Monday) morning, we attended the school assembly in PFS where there was another soft launch by HM Encik Jalil and an invited guest Datuk Adilah. Mr. Rao gave an introduction about the contributions of Mr. Hughes in PFS. For Rao, Hock Guan and myself, it was back memory lane being present at the school assembly. I was half-expecting Denni to play the piano! But now all sang the Negara Ku, Penang anthem and the school song to recorded music. By Mr. Soong Kee
